SAHIWAL: Noor Muhammad, Additional Session Judge of Tehsil Court, Chichawatni, granted interim pre-arrest bail to 25 PTI workers and supporters on Friday.

Salman Akhtar Alvi, PTI lawyer, informed Dawn by phone that the judge confirmed the pre-arrest bail and asked police not to arrest PTI workers till Jan 10.

These workers were booked by the City police last night for organizing a protest rally in Chichawatni to demand the release of Imran Khan.

Eyewitness said protesters blocked Mall Mandi Road for 40 minutes, chanted slogans against the government.

According to the FIR, police attempted to persuade the workers to stop chanting slogans against the government, but they refused and blocked city roads. When police tried to arrest them, they fled the scene.

Police booked 25 PTI workers under PPC 341, 186, 148, 149, and Section 16 of the the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance- 1960.

The police booked Aziz Posswal, Masood Iftikhar, Bilal Qammar, Saeed Ahmed, Rana Umair, Rana Zubair, Rana Waqas, Sajid Ansari, Farooq alias Farooqi Javed Isa, and 15 unknown persons on the complaint of Nisar Ahmed, SI, City Police Station, Chichawatni.

All the nominated accused were present in the court, and upon confirmation of interim bail, they chanted slogans in favour of Imran Khan.

DACOITY: Unknown armed motorcyclists robbed animal traders of Rs 2.4 million near village 37/12-L on the Lahore-Multan highway.

The dacoits managed to escape with cash in smog cover.

Reports said six animal traders from Mian Channu were returning home after selling animals at the Chichawatni animal market in a mini truck. Their truck was intercepted by three armed men on a motorcycle. They took away cash from the traders and disappeared.
