ISLAMABAD: A constable was injured during an encounter with suspects in capital, police said on Monday.

The incident took place at picket at Dhok Kashmirian near Ramna police station. The injured constable was identified as Ashfaq.

Earlier, a seven member police team was deployed at the picket where they got information about some suspects moving on a motorcycle. Over the movement of the suspects the police were alerted, besides, the area was also cordoned off.

After sometime two persons riding on the motorcycle appeared at the picket and on suspicion they were signaled to stop.

However, the motorcyclist tried to hit one of a policemen with the twowheelers while the pillion rider started firing at the police.

As a result of the firing Constable Ashfaq sustained a bullet injury while the two suspects managed to escape. Later, the injured was shifted to hospital for medical assistance.

Over the incident a case has been registered at Ramna police station against the two unidentified suspects under sections 324, 353, 186, and 34 of PPC.

In another incident a couple was shot and injured by gunmen during a robbery about a kilometer away from Industrial Area police station.

The injured were identified as Aziz Nazir Khan and his fiancé and both were students of different universities at Islamabad and Azad Kashmir. Khan came over to Islamabad in a car from Azad Kashmir and reached I-8 to meet his fiancé.

Two riders of a motorcycle appeared there when the couple was sitting in the car in the area and held them up at gunpoint. One of them snatched a mobile phone from the girl and in the meantime Khan made an attempt to speed away the car.

However, the gunmen started firing on them and as a result both sustained bullet injuries. Shortly the robbers escaped.

Later, the injured were taken to hospital for medical assistance. Industrial Area police station have registered a under section 394 of PPC.
