BAJAUR: A two-day festival commenced here on Saturday, featuring different cultural, entertainment and sports activities.

The festival organised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), began with a colourful ceremony held at the Bajaur Sports Complex in Khar.

Scores of elders, political and social activists, youth and artists attended the opening ceremony of the festival aimed at promoting healthy and positive activists in the region.

On the occasion, a group of local and non-local dancers, artists and musicians performed, entertaining the audience gathered for the opening ceremony of the festival.

Taking to the media, KPCTA officials said that the festival featured cultural and sports activities and poetry sessions.

They said that traditional music, dance, martial arts, cycle race competitions and different traditional games like kabaddi are the major segments of the festival meant to highlight the positive image of the district.

The KPCTA officials said that scores of stalls displaying traditional cuisine and locally made garments were also part of the festival. The officials said that a special play area had also been set up for children.

They said that it was the first such event in Bajaur. They said that KPCTA had also organised festivals in Khyber, Tank, Orakzai and South Waziristan districts.
