Yemen’s Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, has claimed responsibility for the attack on Israel’s capital Tel Aviv, after reports earlier of blasts heard over the city, Al Jazeera reports.

Saree said the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a “specific military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport” using hypersonic missiles.

“The missile succeeded in reaching its target,” he said in a statement in English, “and the operation resulted in casualties and the cessation of navigation at the airport.”

Israel has yet to confirm any casualties and the cessation of air travel.

Saree also spoke of an attack using a UAV on the area of Jaffa, which since 1948 has been part of Tel Aviv.
