GUJRAT: A man was shot dead by two police officials allegedly at the behest of their rivals near Head Faqeerian of Miana Gondal police precincts of Mandi Bahauddin district on Wednesday.

Reports said Ahmed Yaar, a resident of Faqeerian Headworks, was going to Miana Gondal along with his son and others when a trainee sub-inspector Huzaifa and constable Sajid along with other policemen stopped them and opened indiscriminate fire killing Yaar on the spot.

When the family of the deceased lodged a protest against the incident, Mandi Bahauddin District Police Officer (DPO) Waseem Riaz ordered registration of a case against the nominated police officials who were later arrested.

Yaar’s son Farhan Ali alleged in his application for the registration of a case that Qamari Ranjha, a cousin of his father, was gunned down in Islamabad a few months ago by his rivals and his father was the complainant in the case.

He alleged the rival party was asking his father not to pursue the murder case which he did not do upon which the police officials killed him at the behest of the rival group.

Police shifted the body to the hospital where doctors conducted an autopsy and later handed it over to the family.
