RAWALPINDI: An official of Pakistan Rangers, who was injured when an SUV rammed into a vehicle of the paramilitary force on Srinagar Highway during the PTI protest on Nov 26, lost his struggle for life at the Combined Military Hospital on Thursday.

The martyrdom of Lance Naik Mohammad Tanveer increased the death toll from the incident to four. Besides, two police officials had also embraced martyrdom while more than 119 police personnel were injured.

The incident happened when the sports utility vehicle rammed into the Rangers’ personnel apparently with the intention to kill them. Three personnel were martyred while two others were injured.

The funeral prayer of Tanveer, 37, a resident of Narowal district, was offered at Rangers’ unit near Saidpur village. Later, the body was sent to his native town for burial.

The other martyrs included Naik Mohammad Ramzan, Sepoy Gulfam Khan, Sepoy Shahnawaz and Lance Naik Mohammad Tanveer.

Following the martyrdom of Rangers personnel, an FIR was registered at the Ramna police station against the PTI founder and other leaders under various sections of the law.
