QUETTA: The vehicle of a senior Levies officer was attacked in an explosion in Qila Abdullah Bazaar, on Wednesday.

Officials said that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted close to a senior Levies officer’s vehicle, parked in front of Nadra office, and detonated it with a remote control. The vehicle was badly damaged in the powerful blast, but no human loss was reported.

“Fortunately, no one was in the vehicle when the blast took place. The Levies officer had left the vehicle just a few minutes before the explosion,” a senior police officer said.

While no human loss was reported, the vehicle was damaged and windowpanes of nearby shops were shattered.

Soon after the blast, Levies, FC and police personnel rushed to the site and launched a search operation in the area to trace out the terrorists involved in the blast.
