HYDERABAD, April 13: Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party chief Dr Qadir Magsi has said that phase-wise struggle would be launched on all burning issues of Sindh to mobilise people of the province.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Tarraqi Passand House on Wednesday after he was re-elected unopposed as STPP chairman at the party’s 41th national congress. The congress elected 21-member central committee and some new office-bearers.

According to Dr Magsi, around 300 delegates from across Sindh attended the congress.

He said the congress discussed the role of Sindhi people in the internationally changing scenario.

He said settlements of migrants from India after reopening of the Khokhrapar border, teaching of Sindhi language in educational institutions and rights of Sindhis on mineral resources also featured in the congress.

He said the Tarraqi Passand Party had already rejected 1991 Water Accord and criticised what he termed an indifferent attitude of Irsa regarding the distribution of water among the provinces, because the country had been held hostage by a particular group that protected the interests of Punjab.

He condemned dismantling of Sindhi villages and accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of trying to occupy urban areas.

The STPP chief said a coastal province was being created and warned that this move would be taken very seriously because the people of Sindh considered it against their fundamental rights.
