‘Suicide bombing un-Islamic’

Published April 13, 2006

LAHORE, April 12: Three visiting Islamic scholars from west have described Islam as the religion for all times. Speaking at a seminar on the Prophet (PBUH), his Message and Relevance to Contemporary World organised by the Iqbal International Institute for Research, Education and Dialogue here on Wednesday evening, Dr Fathi Osman said that Islam gave the message of globalism and humanism. The message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was for the entire world and was not limited to Makkah alone.

He said that Islam supported freedom of expression and respect for humanity. Faith of a Muslim was incomplete without the two. Islam also supported freedom of expression and association attached great importance to the opinion of the people.

Answering a question about ‘riba’, he said that labour, capital and profit had become the integral parts of modern economy. Interest or profit offered by banks required to be appropriate and not less than fair and deserved.
