LARKANA, April 12: The district council on Wednesday passed a resolution condemning the bomb blast at Nishtar Park in Karachi and urged the government to immediately arrest the criminals.

Badar Abbasi who tabled the resolution said the blast was part of a conspiracy to pit Muslims against Muslims. Iqbal Soomro, Babu Siyal, Amjad Jalbani, Ms Khursheed Talat Khatyan, Fayyaz Bhutto supported the move, saying that the evil forces were out to strike against Muslims.

Pro-PPP members Ms Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Ms Yasmin Abro, Khair Mohammed Shaikh, Barkat Shaikh, Ali Gohar Bhatti questioned the security arrangements on the day.

They demanded that the government should resign, as it had failed to provide security to large public gatherings and protect human lives.

STRIKE: All major trade centres remained closed and roads almost deserted in the strike observed in the city on Wednesday to mourn the victims of Karachi blast.

Religious scholars led by Hafiz Ahmed Ali Abbasi took out a procession, which turned into a rally outside the local press club. Later, they marched on main roads of the city.

They criticised the government for poor security arrangements on the day and demanded early arrest of the culprits.

Earlier, police arrested three persons Moula Bakhsh, Imran Ali and Qamaruddain, who they said were forcing shopkeepers to shutter down.
