RAHIM YAR KHAN: Some locals captured a wounded Eurasian Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvis) in Rukanpur area near the Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M-5), some 60 kms from here, on Sunday morning.

After capturing the bird, they informed the Wildlife department staff who rescued the vulture.

RYK Wildlife Assistant Director Muhammad Sultan Anjum told this correspondent that the vulture would be kept in the Wildlife Park in Rahim Yar Khan for treatment and after recovery it wound be released in the wild.

“Basically they are scavengers that feed on dead animals and birds and have an important role in cleaning the environment,” he said.
