Congregation in Swabi concludes

Published April 11, 2006

SWABI, April 10: A three-day Tableeghi Ijtema at the Shahmansoor township concluded on Monday with hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country pledging to devote themselves to the dissemination of the message of Islam throughout the world.

Thousands volunteered themselves to join missionary groups formed during the congregation.

The continuous rain on Saturday and Sunday disturbed the Ijtema. However, people stayed there for long hours.

The loudspeaker system did not work because of prolonged power breakdown.

The first session was held smoothly but after sunset rain caused widespread disruption.

Maulana Abdul Wahab led the prayers.

Maulana Qazi Habibullah threw light on different aspects of Islamic teachings.

He said Islam is perfect code of life.

The Ulema urged the faithful to uphold the principles of Islam in letter and spirit and propagate as well as convey the true message of the religion throughout the world.

A record gathering joined on Monday morning the grand dua, which was also attended by provincial legislators, nazims, councillors and government officers.
