KARACHI, April 10: The acting City Nazim, Nasreen Jalil, stressed the need for construction of parking lots on priority basis in various areas under traffic pressure and asked the transport and communication department to take immediate steps for the implementation of the proposed parking projects.

She was chairing a meeting attended, among others, by EDO Transport and other officials concerned.

Ms Jalil said that this parking problem was giving rise to incidents of haphazard parking as a result of which, traffic problems were intensifying.

On the occasion, the drivers’ training school project also came under discussion. Ms Jalil said that it was imperative to make drivers accustomed with traffic laws.

EDO Transport briefed the meeting about the drivers’ training school and said the department was working on various projects to overcome city’s prevailing traffic problems.—APP
