RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly gunned down his wife and mother-in-law over a domestic dispute in Naseerabad police area on Sunday.

Police said Salman got married to Iqra Latif some eight months ago, but the relations between the couple went soar due to domestic issues.

As a result, Iqra returned to her parents’ house. On Sunday, Salman went to his in-laws’ house to settle the issue and bring his wife back. However, while negotiating with his in-laws, he got provoked, pulled out a pistol and shot his wife and mother-in-law. As a result, Iqra died on the spot while his mother-in-law died in the hospital. The alleged killer managed to escape.

Meanwhile, a woman who was found dead in her in-laws’ house in April was found to have been murdered by suffocation in the medical report on Saturday, police said.

Farhan Akhtar lodged an FIR with R.A Bazaar police saying that his sister got married with Kashif Ameer Qureshi one year ago and settled in R.A. Bazaar area.

He said a few days later his sister came to his house and complained that her husband was not earning money and not providing any grocery.

He told his sister that he would talk to her husband after which she went back. On April 25, he said he received a phone call that his sister was not responding to the doorbells despite repeated efforts.

He then went to her house through the rooftop and found his sister and husband lying unconscious on their bed, the complainant said, adding that he was informed by Rescue 1122 that his sister had already died, while her husband was alive.

After the report was received by the hospital, the SWMO of the DHQ hospital declared his sister’s death due to “suffocation, however, circumstantial evidence is required”.

Initial report registered by the police was converted into a murder case against the accused on Saturday after the receipt of the medical examination report.
