QUETTA: An alleged armed militant was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Noshki district of Balochistan on Monday, officials said.

They said the incident took place in the Qadirabad area when armed men opened fire on a convoy of security forces traveling from the Ghaznali post to Noshki.

The assailants fired at one of the vehicles and burst its tires. The troops in the convoy immediately retaliated the attack.

“In the exchange of fire, one militant was killed on the spot while others fled,” a senior official of the Noshki administration said on the condition of anonymity. He said there were no casualties among the security forces.

Deadly family feud claims four lives in Panjgur

Meanwhile, the truck driver, who was injured on Sunday during an attack in the Chamalang area of Duki district, succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Unknown armed men had intercepted trucks carrying coal to Punjab, opening fire and setting three trucks ablaze.

The driver, identified as Habibullah Hamzazai, was taken to the district hospital in Loralai, where he later died from his injuries.

Armed clash

Four people, including two brothers, were killed and two injured in an armed clash between rival factions of a family in Panjgur district on Monday.

Officials said the violent confrontation occurred in the Chatikan area.

The groups had been in conflict for some time, which escalated into the armed clash.

Armed men from both sides took positions against each other and opened fire with automatic weapons.

A senior police officer said four persons were killed and two injured in the clash, which was reportedly triggered by a financial dispute.

Police and law enforcement personnel shifted the bodies and the injured to Panjgur district hospital.

The deceased were identified as Safeer Ahmed and Mujahid, while their brother Jamsher was injured.

From the opposing group, siblings Haji Naveed and Fareed were killed and their brother Shehzad was injured.

Hospital officials said all victims suffered multiple bullet wounds.

Police registered a case against both groups and began investigation, though no arrests were reported till late in the night.

A separate armed clash occurred near the bus terminal in Chatikan Bazaar, where rival groups exchanged gunfire, resulting in injuries to two persons from both sides.

Police said this clash was also a result of a financial dispute.

The injured, identified as Sikander and Tanveer, were also taken to Panjgur district hospital for treatment.

Investigation into both clashes are ongoing, according to local police.
