Seven air strikes have been carried out for the first time in the historic city of Tyre, Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari reports, adding that it is a Unesco World Heritage Site and was once home to nearly 200,000 people.

“From the images we’ve seen, buildings have been completely destroyed and businesses have been lost and damaged,” Jabbari reports.

The Israeli military said it’s targeting command-and-control centres for Hezbollah, as well as hitting the headquarters of the southern front of the organisation, which it says is responsible for carrying out cross-border attacks into northern Israel, Jabbari adds.
