QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has increased the amount of Working Journalists Welfare Fund from Rs230 million to Rs500m.

He also allocated Rs200m as seed money for Quetta Press Club.

The chief minister announced this at a meeting with a delegation of senior journalists. He also announced Rs10m for Balochistan Journalist Academy and approved solarisation of Quetta Press Club.

The journalists’ delegation briefed the chief minister on various issues, including delays in the Journalist Cooperative Housing Society project.

“We always welcome constructive criticism from the media and the aim of the incumbent government is to ensure that journalists are free from reliance on the government aid for the sake of objective reporting,” Mr Bugti said.
