RAWALPINDI: The federal government has appointed Nadir Shafi Dar as director general of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) for three years.

The aviation ministry has issued a notification about the permanent appointment of Nadir Shafi Dar, who had been holding the acting charge.

Mr Dar is considered an expert in the field of aviation as he had also rendered his services as DG Regulatory.

Earlier, in April this year CAA director general retired Ft Lt Khaqan Murtaza was transferred and appointed as chairman Employees’ Old age Benefits Institution (EOBI).

Mr Murtaza had been unable to revive Pakistani flights to European countries in the last four years. The suspension of Pakistani flights to European countries has been causing billions of rupees in loss to the airlines.

Aviation experts believe that the newly appointed DG CAA was the need of the hour to address the issue.
