US says Israel must avoid Gaza-like military action in Lebanon

The US State Department has said Israel must avoid taking Gaza-like military action in Lebanon after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Lebanon with similar destruction, AFP reports.

“I’m making very clear that there should be no kind of military action in Lebanon that looks anything like Gaza and leaves a result anything like Gaza,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told journalists.
