LAHORE: The Kahna police booked eight people who tortured and injured a young man in the presence of the police personnel here on Tuesday.

The police acted when the mobile phone footage of the incident went viral on social media showing the policemen helpless when the attackers were torturing young man Naeem Qamar on the premises of the police station.

However, the police in the FIR claimed that the incident took place in front of the police station saying some eight attackers thrashed and tortured Naeem and his brothers.

The policemen rushed to the site and tried to rescue the victims, it said adding that the suspects attacked and injured the young man a couple of hours after the complainant caught two of the attackers while stealing gold ornaments and a huge cash amount from his house.

He said Naeem had called 15 and sought police help soon after the house theft incident.
