MIANWALI: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have killed seven alleged terrorists during an operation near Makarwal on Sunday evening.

The CTD Sargodha has registered a case and launched a special operation to arrest the absconding terrorists.

According to a press release, the law enforcement agencies acted on a tip-off in the precincts of Makarwal Police Station of tehsil Isakhel.

On seeing the police, the terrorists opened fire while policeman retaliated. As a result, seven terrorists were killed by ‘their own accomplices’ while eight terrorists managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness.

The CTD recovered explosives, seven Kalashnikovs, bullets and six hand grenades from the possession of the dead militants. The process of their identification and investigation was in progress.

The press release said in case of any information related to terrorism, the citizens should report on the CTD helpline 0800-11111.

Mianwali District Police Officer Akhter Farooq praised the efforts of CTD personnel.
