The Israeli military claims its warplanes destroyed the rocket launchers in southern Gaza that carried out an earlier attack on the centre of the country, Al Jazeera reports.

“During the attack, secondary explosions were seen, indicating the presence of weapons,” according to a military statement.

The morning attack was claimed by Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. Israeli medics said two people were lightly wounded in central Israel. The Israeli army said the rockets were fired from Khan Younis, calling for civilians to evacuate the area.
