Indian trooper kills colleagues

NEW DELHI, April 3: India’s security woes in disputed Kashmir were heightened on Monday when a trooper of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) killed three fellow colleagues after his leave application was refused, news reports said.

They said the incident was even more worrying for Indian troops as it involved the unit of CRPF guarding the official residence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the winter capital of Jammu. They said the angry man indiscriminately fired around a dozen rounds from his rifle, killing an inspector and two constables.

The chief minister and his wife Shamima were present at the house when the firing happened. The shooter tried to run away but was overpowered and arrested, the sources said.
