ISLAMABAD, April 2: Syed Dilawar Abbas was re-elected unopposed as the president of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) for a new term of four years on Sunday following a meeting at the Islamabad Club. Also re-elected was Rashid Khan the controversial secretary of the PTF who could hardly spare time for the sport during his previous tenure.

Dilawar said that work on the PTF Complex in Islamabad was just about to begin and it would take about 10 months for the project’s completion.

Interestingly, in the first four years of their tenure the PTF officials had failed to initiate work on the complex.

The meeting also re-elected treasurer Arif Qureshi and Senior Vice Presidents Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Khawaja Saeed Hai, Abdul Samad Khan and Rao Iftikhar.

The vice-presidents re-elected were Mumtaz Yousaf, Jamal Mirza and Nasir Munir while Chaudhary Guftar Ahmed and Talat Khursheed were inducted as VPs.

Mohammad Khalil and Khalid Rehmani will continue as the joint secretaries both of whom will be joined by newcomers Saeed Ahmed Iqbal and Shah Jahan Shinwari.

Ladies members elected on the council were Nighat Saeed, Shahida Farooq and Shaheen Khan.
