TOBA TEK SINGH, April 2: Dr Fareed Piracha, an MMA leader from Lahore, has said the government is selling the state assets at throwaway prices under a conspiracy. Speaking at a seminar on “Muslim Ummah and the prevailing situation” on Sunday, he claimed that the steel mills and other sold institutions were ruined on the directions of imperialist forces. He stressed the need for unity among Muslims.

The seminar, which was organised by the Ayesha Siddiqa Trust at Garden Town, was presided over by Federal Shariat Court Judge Justice Allama Khalid Mahmood. Gen Hameed Gul (retired) spoke on telephone from Lahore.

He said the conflict of civilisations could be restrained by the non-Muslim countries by creating awareness (among their nations) about the misunderstandings created against Islam by their media.

It was a pity the rulers of the Muslim world used the name of Islam for gaining power but later they forgot to implement the Islamic injunctions, he said.

Justice Mahmood said the only solution to the problems faced by Muslims was following the principles of Islam.

He urged the participants to follow in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

PML-N central executive committee member Hamza, a former MNA, said Islamic countries were virtually playing the role of the US agents.
