ISLAMABAD, April 1: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that the country was moving forward on the democratic front with an active parliament and a “vociferous” print and electronic media.

He was talking to a parliamentary delegation of the United Kingdom here.

The prime minister said that democratic process was moving in the right direction and the country had achieved economic recovery and stability.

Chairman Senate Mouhammedmian Soomro also attended the meeting.

The prime minister gave an overview of country’s foreign policy, defence and security considerations, social priorities, economic situation and other regional issues.

He highlighted Pakistan geo-strategic location and said the country could play a pivotal role in a volatile region.

Referring to relations between Pakistan and India, the prime minister said that Islamabad was engaged in a dialogue process with New Delhi for the resolution of all outstanding issues, including the core dispute of Kashmir.

He said sustainable peace in the region would only be possible after the resolution of Kashmir issue that was acceptable to Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris.

He said Pakistan was aggressively and passionately pushing the peace process.—APP
