BAHAWALPUR, March 31: The Bahawal Victoria Hospital’s emergency ward has run short of anti-rabies vaccine. A notice announcing the non-availability of the vaccine has been displayed outside the emergency ward of the hospital by the ward’s in charge Dr Muhammed Aslam Sheikh.
BVH’s Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Altaf Malik confirmed that the vaccine was out of stock at the hospital.
However, he said a demand letter for the provision of the vaccine had been sent to the National Institute of Public Health, Islamabad. As soon as the hospital got the vaccine, it would be provided to those in need, he said without giving any date.
The incidence of rabies has reportedly increased in the area due to a high number of stray dogs there.
