KARACHI, March 29: PAK PWD moved into the DHA Trophy KCCA Inter-departmental cricket tournament final despite a brilliant century by KESC skipper Sarfraz Ahmed on Tuesday.

Sarfraz, who led Pakistan to Under-19 World Cup title last month, hammered 109 off 99 balls with seven boundaries as KESC were all out for 246 in the first semifinal at the KCCA Stadium.

Slow left-armer Fahim Ahmed captured four for 39 while off-spinner Mohammad Masroor took three for 44.

Pak PWD achieved a seven-wicket victory in the 49th over by scoring 247 for three. Ex-Pakistan under-19 captain Khalid Latif (87 with nine fours and one six), Khurram Manzoor (57 with four fours) and Faraz Patel (54 with five fours) were the chief run-getters.

DHA, meanwhile, made it to the semifinals by inflicting a convincing nine-wicket defeat on Central Police at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.

The highlights being the superb batting of Akbar Rahman (100 with eight fours) and Mubashir Ahmed (97 with eight fours). The pair added 192 for the unbroken second-wicket partnership.
