Punjab trounce NWFP

LAHORE, March 28: Five goals by captain Ayesha Rafi and four goals each by by Tehmina Siddique and Sidra Riaz helped Punjab crush NWFP 15-0 on first day of the Inter-provincial U-17 Women hockey championship at the National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Punjab led the first half 8-0.

Ayesha banged home in the 8th, 21st, 29th, 45th and 48th minutes. Tehmina netted in the 1st, 10th, 26th and 50th minutes.

Sidra found the cage in th 3rd, 18th, 42nd and 52nd minutes.

Saman added two goals in the 55th and 58th minute.

Three-goal Kalsoom Mehar Ali helped Balochistan beat Sindh 5-0.

The winners were 2-0 up in the first half. All goals were scored on field attempts.

Kalsoom drew first blood in the 12th minute. Seven minutes later, Masooma Salman doubled the lead.

After half time, Kalsoom struck her second in the 37th minute to make the score 3-0.

Shazia Ishaq pumped in a goal in the 39th minute while Kalsoom completed her and team scoring in the 57th minute.

Wednesday’s fixture: Punjab vs Sindh; Balochistan vs NWFP.
