KARACHI: Taking a major initiative to reduce plastic waste, the Sindh government has banned plastic water bottles in government offices.

According to a circular issued by the Sindh services, general administration and coordination department late on Friday, all provincial government departments have been directed to stop using disposable plastic water bottles and provide water in jugs and glasses in all the government offices.

The decision to this effect was taken after Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over environmental impact of the use of plastic water bottles during the cabinet meeting held on Thursday.

He asked the government departments to stop using plastic water bottles to make government offices environment friendly.
