HYDERABAD, March 28: The Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University of Sindh at a meeting held on Tuesday approved the award of four Ph.D and two M.Phil degrees to candidates in various disciplines. On the basis of reports by local and foreign examiners, the meeting approved PhD degrees for Asad Shaikh (information technology), Ali Mohammad Soomro (physiology), Syed Iqleem Haider Taqvi (analytical chemistry) and Nisar Ahmad Subhpoto (library information sciences and archive studies). M.Phil degrees were awarded to Javed Ahmad Chandio (commerce) and Abid Ali (biochemistry).

The meeting also approved names of scholars as guides and co-guides to help candidates in their research work in various disciplines.

It approved registration of 20 candidates for M.Phil research work in disciplines of faculties of arts, social sciences and natural sciences.

The meeting also approved the transfer of research work from M.Phil to Ph.D of five candidates and allowed registration of a number of candidates for Ph.D research.
