PESHAWAR: Provincial secretary information of PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Amjad Khan Afridi alleged that the PTI government in the KP province was ruining public sector departments by facilitating rampant corruption.

Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Monday, the Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) leader described the recent press conference of the Provincial Minister Shakeel Ahmad and replacement of the Communication & Works (C&W) Department secretary as a counter-signing of the acknowledgment of corruption allegations.

Party’s veteran leaders Gohar Inqilabi and Asad Afridi were also present on the occasion.

He said it was unbelievable that the KP chief minister and the minister concerned were unaware of the malpractices and corruption of their subordinate officials.

The PPP leader was also critical of changing of the portfolio of a minister, following massive cutting of forests, and added that malpractices in the provincial Irrigation Department were also not different from the C&W Department.

Amjad Khan Afridi criticised that all affairs of both departments were being run on the whims of the chief minister. He alleged that there was no second opinion that the former was fully involved in the corruption, and directly getting 10 per cent share out of the alleged 15 per cent commission. He added that the Anti-Corruption director was also replaced for alleged ‘no cooperation’ in inquiry into a scam worth billions of rupees in Health Department.

The PPP’s provincial secretary information said that 75 vehicles, seized by the Excise Department, were being handed over to the members of the provincial assembly to bribe them. He warned the provincial administration to stop this illegal practice; otherwise, they would move the Peshawar High Court against their malpractices and corruption.
