KARACHI: Lahore’s Asad Zaman booked his spot in the final of the Techstirr National Juniors Tennis Championship with a convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory over Mohammad Yahya of Islamabad in the Under-18 semi-finals here at the DA Creek club on Sunday.

Asad, who also paired up with Kashan Tariq to win their doubles semi-final match, will face Muzammil Bhand in the final after the latter edged out Asad’s double partner Kashan 6-2, 7-5.

In the Under-14 category, Ismail Aftab and Ali Bachani of Hyderabad reached the final with wins over Ruhab Faisal and Peshawar’s Mohammad Junaid, respectively.

Earlier, Ruhab and Junaid had won their quarter-final matches against Zayed Zaman and Zohaib Zaman.

Natalie Zaman and Daliah Shazim won their semi-final matches in the girls Under-18 category, while Mariym Zeeshan claimed the girls Under-12 title with a thumping 4-2, 4-0 win over Dua Yousuf.

In the doubles categories, Eschelle Asif overpowered Mariym 8-1 in the girls Under-14 singles semi-finals

The finals and closing ceremony will take place on Monday at 4 pm.
