KOHAT, March 25: The families of three people killed while on their way to Peshawar from Doaba village during the Feb 9 violence have approached the grand jirga for compensation and justice.

After the Hangu bomb blast, in which 23 people were killed on Feb 9, angry mourners had burnt property worth Rs1.49 billion.

They had also attacked a vehicle killing three members of the same family, including a woman, and injuring four others.

Later, the area people blocked the main Thall-Parachinar Road and threatened to take revenge.

The jirga comprising 12 members — six each from Shia and Sunni communities of the Orakzai Agency — has accepted the request of the victim families and assured them of compensation and justice.

The jirga, that has been holding meetings for eight consecutive days, has postponed its proceedings until April 1.
