GUJRANWALA, March 25: DCO Manzer Hayat gave vent to his disquiet over the construction work of the sports complex of Quaid-i-Azam Divisional Public College on GT Road and issued a show-cause notice to the contractor here on Saturday.

At a meeting held in the college president over by the DCO, participants reviewed the construction work of the sports complex and swimming pool while the works and services executive officer pointed out some technical defects.

The DCO also uttered his dissatisfaction over the performance of engineers and contractors and warned them that they would have to pay 50 per cent fine of expenditures if they failed to complete the work in a stipulated period.

He directed them to ensure the use of standard building material in projects otherwise their contracts would be cancelled. EDO (works) Zubair Imran Khwaja, college principal Syed Ansar Ali and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

ARRESTED: Carrying out DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq’s orders, two traffic police constables were arrested for corruption and misuse of power here on Saturday.

Constables Qaiser Mahmood and Ilyas, deployed in Wazirabad, were arrested by City SHO Maqbool Ahmed. After registering a case against them, the accused constables were sent to jail.
