KARACHI: Hashish seized

KARACHI, March 25: In a successful operation, the Intelligence Excise foiled an attempt of narcotics smuggling and recovered 2,800 rods of hashish along with the arrest of one person on Saturday.

The DIO Excise, Aslam Jatoi, had received information that an attempt would be made to bring contraband charas into the city.

Acting on the information, a vigil was mounted around Kala Pul area since morning and on pointation by an informer, a taxi (JM-6850) was intercepted. The search resulted in recovery of 2,800 rods weighing around 35kg of charas wrapped in two bags from the boot of the taxi.

The intelligence staff arrested taxi driver Mohammed Yunus. During interrogation, he disclosed that the contraband was brought from Balochistan through a passenger coach. Further investigation was in progress.—APP
