Education Minister Yoav Kisch says the school year will not start in northern Israel, Al Jazeera reports.
This means that evacuated students will continue to study in other schools and be scattered throughout the country, according to Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
The report said that during a meeting with the Mateh Asher Regional Council in northern Israel, Kisch called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “to act now and strongly against the state of Lebanon”.
“There is no escaping the decision to wage a massive war against Lebanon in order to restore peace and stability to the residents of the north and for the future of the State of Israel,” he said.
Reacting to the news, Avigdor Lieberman, head of the opposition Yisrael Beiteinu party, said, “The failure to start the school year in the north proves that the government does not have a vision and surrendered to Hezbollah.”
