GUJRANWALA, March 23: A traffic constable was shot dead by robbers on offering resistance in Hashmi Colony here on Thursday. Reports said Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad along with his family was on his way home by a car after meeting his brother when some dacoits intercepted him, looted cash, gold jewellery and opened fire on him on offering resistance. He died on way to DHQ hospital.

Sabzi Mandi police have registered a case and are investigating.


Reports said expatriate Khurram Shehzad and his family were on their way home. Near Service Road, two robbers intercepted them, took away Rs12,000, 2,000 Saudi Riyals, 12-tola gold jewellery and mobile phones.

In another incident, dacoits deprived passer-by Pervaiz Akhter and trader’s son Bilal of cash, mobile phones and their motorcycles.

Gangsters intercepted trader Ijaz Sabari in civil lines and made off with Rs9,000 and a mobile phone at gunpoint.
