BAJAUR: MPA-elect Mohammad Nisar Khan, who won the Thursday’s by-election on a provincial assembly seat, PK-22, has termed his victory a referendum against the unrest and lawlessness in the Bajaur district.

The Awami National Party (ANP)’s MPA-elect also expressed his determination to work for the maintenance of peace and measures to safeguard the due rights of the local people.

“I’m grateful to all the people of my constituency for extending great support to my narrative of peace, which secured me the victory in election against several strong opponents,” said Nisar Khan while speaking to his supporters and visitors at his central election office in Khar on Friday.

A large number of people, including supporters, well-wishers and his party workers visited his election office throughout the day to congratulate him in the Thursday by-election on PK-22. Muhammad Nisar Khan, who is also the general secretary of ANP local chapter, admitted that his victory in the by-election was a difficult one, which only became possible due to the support of common people and his party workers.

He maintained that his victory had proved that the people of his constituency were against the lawlessness and insurgency in the district. He said that protection of hard-earned peace, constitutional rights of the people would be his top priority.

Mr Khan, the first-ever MPA of ANP in the district history, won the by-election by securing 11,695 votes.

Besides the general public and supporters, a number of local leaders of different political parties and losing candidates also visited the MPA-elect office to congratulate him on his victory.
