BAHAWALPUR: A mentally and physically challenged woman was allegedly raped her relative in basti Mochiwala village in the limits of Gailiwal police station in Lodhran district on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the woman was allegedly raped by her relative in her house when all her family members had gone in the fields to cut grass for their cattle.

As per Lodhran police spokesperson, the victim’s father, Ramzan, alleges the suspect tresspassed his house and raped his daughter.

On hearing the woman’s screams, some locals rushed to the scene, while the suspect managed to flee.

On her father’s complaint, Gailiwal police registered an FIR (No.291/24) under section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the suspect and sent the victim for her medical examination.

After the incident was reported to District Police Officer Kamran Mumtaz, police swung into action and arrested the suspect.
