LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday sought reports from the home department and police about the alleged abduction of the brothers of PTI social media head Azhar Mashwani and former adviser to prime minister Shahbaz Gill.

Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi heard a petition of Mashwani’s father Qazi Habibur Rehman, seeking recovery of his two sons -- Zahoorul Hassan and Mazharul Hassan.

A law officer filed a report on behalf of additional IG denying custody of the alleged missing sons of the petitioner.

The police officer, present in the court, stated that CCTV footage provided by the petitioner about the alleged abduction of the brothers had been sent to the forensic science agency for its examination.

The judge sought a report from the home department and directed the police to submit the forensic of the video on Friday (today).

Separately, the judge heard a habeas corpus petition seeking recovery of the alleged abducted brother of Mr Gill and sought a report from the Lahore CCPO.

The petitioner’s counsel alleged that the police ‘abducted’ Ghulam Shabbir on his way to Islamabad.

He said the life of the abductee was in danger as police were not telling the petitioner’s about the whereabouts of his son.

The judge directed the CCPO to submit a report to the petition on Friday (today).
