KARACHI: Perturbed at the killings of two unarmed youth by private security guards in as many incidents, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday ordered the provincial home department to carry out an inspection of all private security companies.

A YouTuber and a ragpicker were shot dead near Sarina Mobile Market in Sakhi Hasan and North Karachi by two private security guards within a week over petty issues.

In a statement, CM Shah said that such killings were tragic and intolerable.

He directed the police to immediately arrest the security guard involved in the fatal shooting of the teenage ragpicker.

Expressing concern over arming under-training guards by their companies, the CM ordered strict action against the security firms found involved in giving weapons to their trainee guards.

He said that a physiological evaluation of the guards must be conducted before their recruitment.

Meanwhile, police on Saturday arrested an official of a private security company whose guard shot dead the teenager ragpicker in North Karachi on Friday.
