CHITRAL: The three-day Shandur Polo Festival will commence at the highest polo ground of the world from June 27 this year instead of its scheduled date of July 7, as it is one of the calendar events of the country.

Commandant of Chitral Scouts Colonel Bilal Javed, Upper Chitral DC Mohammad Irfanuddin, Lower Chitral DC Mohammad Imran Khan and president of polo association Shahzada Sikandar visited the venue of the festival to give it final touches.

In their meeting at the site, a number of decisions were taken to hold the festival in a befitting and organised manner in order to provide maximum facilities and comfort to the polo fans turning out from both Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.

It was decided to take effective steps to keep the fragile environment of the area clean of all types of solid waste as it was the summer pasture for the people of Laspur valley of Chitral who tended their yaks there in these months.

It was reiterated that based upon the observations of the polo fans of both the areas of Chitral and GB, the shortcomings in the management of the event would be duly rectified.
