Rivas claims golden goal

LAHORE, March 17: A golden-goal by Jose Rivas in the fifth chukker helped Bank Alfalah earn 8-7 win against Kings Textile in the President of Pakistan polo trophy on Friday.

Rivas and Lucas Di Paola scored four goals each for the winners. Both the teams were 1-1 in the first chukker.

Rivas drew the first blood converting a 60-yard penalty hit. Guillermo Cuitino equalised for the losers scoring a field goal.

In the second chukker both the teams failed to take lead (3-3) scoring two goals each. Rivas and Paola struck one goal each.

Diego Araya scored back-to-back for the losers. The bankers went ahead 6-5 in the third chukker. Paola scored two while Rivas one.

Sufi Mohammad Haris and Cuitino pumped in one goal each for the losers. Kings Textile equalised the score 7-7 in the fourth chukker scoring two and conceding one.

Paola struck his fourth for the bankers. But Araya and Taimur scored one goal each for the losers to restore parity to extend the match into extra chukker.
