LAHORE: Jinnah Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Yahya Sultan slapped and humiliated the attendant who demanded better healthcare services for a patient here on Wednesday.

A video clip of the incident that took place at the emergency ward of the hospital later surfaced on social media, showing the MS slapping a young man and trying to attack him repeatedly.

The duty doctors and other persons present there can be seen rescuing the young man, while MS Dr Yahya Sultan keeps on abusing him.

Eyewitnesses say the young man was a relative of a boy who was under treatment at the emergency ward, and he asked the MS to improve the healthcare services at the hospital where the patients were not getting free medicines and being ignored by the doctors.

They say the MS got annoyed and ordered the hospital guards to show the complainant the door, as the young man insisted on investigation into the matter of non-provision of free medicines.

As the both sides exchanged arguments over the issue, the MS lost his temper and slapped the young man.

The young man and attendants of other patients said the head of a government teaching hospital should not react violently to the just demand for better healthcare services.

The MS later told the media persons that the attendant was allegedly wearing a white coat that was designated dress code for the medics only. He claimed that the young man turned offensive when he asked why he was wearing the white coat.
