ISLAMABAD: An external examination on the teenage boy’s body recovered on Margalla Hills on Monday showed injuries to the head and back.

On the other hand, friends who accompanied the boy during hiking to Trail 5 on Saturday are under investigation.

Police spokesman Taqi Jawad told Dawn that before the autopsy, an external examination was conducted on the body at a hospital. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to his family for burial, he added.

During the autopsy, samples were taken from the body for different tests for detection of poisoning, if any. The autopsy and other reports will establish the cause of the death.

The investigation wing of the capital police is probing the incident.

Footages of Safe City Authority’s cameras installed at the entrance of Trail-5 are being examined to get details about the arrival of the boy and his friends and the latter’s departure from the spot.

The friends who accompanied the boy during the hiking on Saturday are under investigation, the PRO said.

However, so far no one has been arrested as there is a court direction not to arrest anyone without any concrete evidence.

Mohammad Taha along with six friends left for Trail-5 on Saturday for hiking.

In the evening, one of his friends called his mother and asked if Taha had returned home.

His mother reached Trail-5 to search for her missing son and also reported the matter to Rescue 15.

In response, the police conducted a search for the boy till late night, but remained unsuccessful.

The next day, the police registered the report in their daily diary and later registered the case.

On Monday morning, the wildlife staff found the body lying in a ravine located between Pir Sohawa and Bari Imam.

Later, the police reached the spot and called rescue workers who went into the ravine and lift it with ropes.
