RAWALPINDI: Six police officials, including a former station house officer of Morgah, were dismissed from service for benefiting accused persons in a murder case by altering documents and destroying evidence.

A spokesman for the police said on Monday that former SHO Shahid Gilani, sub-inspectors Waqas Ahmed, Farrukh Mehmood, head constables Murtaza Hasan, Tasawar Hasan and Haq Nawaz were found involved in the illegal acts during an inquiry.

He said a case was registered against the officials of the Morgah police station on the directive of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani as they had misused their powers.

“Officials who distorted the dignity of the department do not deserve any concession,” CPO Hamdani said, adding the Rawalpindi police were following the principles of self-accountability and transparency.
