Cut in oil prices an eyewash: FCCI

FAISALABAD, Oct 16: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mian Naeemur Rahman has termed reduction in oil prices an “eyewash”.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the FCCI chief said oil prices in the international market had been reduced by 35 per cent during the last month while only 5.5 to 11 per cent decrease was offered to Pakistan by the oil companies.

He urged the federal minister for oil and gas to keep his pledge and reduce the fuel prices by 30 to 35 per cent for giving a relief to the common man.

Three hanged: Three condemned prisoners were hanged in the District Jail here on Tuesday morning.

Zafar, Muhammad Yar, son of Wali Muhammad, and Muhammad Yar, son of Shahu, were awarded capital punishment by the Lahore High Court for killing five persons of Khai village of Chiniot tehsil, Jhang district. Their sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court and their mercy petition was also rejected by the president.

Youth slain: A youth was shot dead by two persons in Chak 276-RB on Tuesday.

Abid Husain was booked some two years ago for kidnapping the daughter of one Yousaf Masih. The issue was resolved in a panchayat and the girl returned home.

On Tuesday, Yousaf and Farooq opened fire on Abid when he was working in his field, killing him on the spot.

Police have registered a case.
