HIGH-RISK ROAD: This refers to the letter ‘Reckless drivers’ (May 22), which highlighted the high-risk stretch from Jamshoro to Sehwan on Indus Highway. As the letter pointed out, the road from Khanoth to Manjhand is currently single carriageway. The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has intensified patrolling and enforcement efforts to prevent reckless driving and speeding in the area. It is also working closely with the local authorities to improve road signage. Additionally, measures have been taken to restrict long vehicles and out-of-route public service vehicles from using this portion of the road till it gets converted into a dual carriageway. Executed with crash barriers, rumble strips and improved lighting, the NHMP strategy has already led to a notable decrease in mishaps.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE: Along with my husband, I recently went to the Executive Passport Office in Clifton. There was a separate line for senior citizens. The gentleman at the desk gave us forms to fill, and guided us about the procedure. We paid challan at the bank, were called for photographs as well as biometrics, and were out of the office in less than an hour. Three days later, we received text messages indicating that our passports were ready and could be collected. The next day, we picked up our passports in less than 10 minutes. This was truly a superb experience.

UNDESIRABLE COLLABORATION: A recent Amnesty International report has revealed that members of the American police force travelled to the occupied Palestine for training by Israeli officers. Many more have received training from Israeli officials in the United States. This clearly means that American law-enforcement agencies are trained by military and security personnel involved in human rights violations. That brutality is being inflicted upon protesters across university campuses who are holding demonstrations against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
