HYDERABAD, March 16: The Pakistan chapter of South Asia Lawyers Forum has appealed to the Indian prime minister and the Indian high commissioner in Islamabad to issue more visas to people of Sindh because the Thar Express had a capacity of 350 passengers.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, forum chairman Riazuddin Qureshi, vice-chairman Syed Abbas Ali Jafri and Kamran Ahmad Chiniwala said that 125 to 150 visas were being issued to people of Sindh wishing to visit India.

They pointed out that thousands of people from Sindh had deposited visa applications to visit India via the Khokhrapar-Munabao route, who were greatly disappointed.

They maintained that if the number of visas was not increased, the very purpose of opening the route would be lost.
